Nollebos - Nature
Nollebos in Vlissingen is a green and atmospheric nature area of around 26 hectares, located on the edge of the city, right next to the dunes and the beach. Together with the adjacent Westduinpark, it forms a large urban park of no less than 47 hectares.
What to expect at the Nollebos?
The Nollebos is where nature, recreation and history come together – loved by locals and visitors alike.
- Fairytale-like woodland: Walk along winding paths past ponds, little bridges and old trees. The peaceful atmosphere makes this forest ideal for relaxing.
- Nature & birdwatching: Each season has its charm – spring brings wildflowers like anemones, in summer the trees provide shade, and in autumn the leaves turn golden and red. Bring binoculars – woodpeckers, owls and songbirds are often heard here.
- Perfect for families: Kids can play in the natural playground. There are plenty of benches and grassy fields for a cosy picnic.
- Walking & cycling: From Nollebos, it’s a short walk or ride to the beach at De Nolle, or further to Dishoek. It also connects to Westduinpark if you want a longer route.
- Historical character: Nollebos was designed in 1925 by order of mayor Van Woelderen, on the grounds of the former Fort De Nolle. You’ll spot remains from the Second World War, including old bunkers and defences.

- Parking: Park at the Burgemeester van Woelderenlaan or near the Nollehoofd.
- Beach nearby: Combine your visit with a walk to the beach at Westduin or Nollestrand.
