New Year's Day plunge 2026

Start the new year with a fresh and energising experience during the annual New Year’s Dive at the Badstrand of Vlissingen!

What can you expect?

This popular tradition attracts both local residents and tourists every year, all eager to welcome the new year in a unique and refreshing way.

• Time: Make sure to arrive early at the Badstrand to secure a good spot.
  • 13:00 - DJ starts
  • 13:45 - Group warm-up
  • 14:00 - Start of the New Year’s Dive
• A refreshing dip: Gather your courage and plunge into the cool waves of the Westerschelde together with many others. An unforgettable way to start the new year!
• A lively atmosphere: The Badstrand of Vlissingen turns into a festive venue with enthusiastic participants and cheering spectators.
• Taking part: Joining the New Year’s Dive is easy and informal, no registration is required. Everyone is welcome to take part in this joyful event.
  • 1. Regular New Year’s Dive
    As usual, we count down together from the Badstrand and run into the water. The regular dive is free of charge and registration is not required.
  • 2. FunDive (new!)
    Before entering the water, you complete an obstacle course and then take the plunge. The FunDive is open to participants aged 12 and over. As this is the first edition and safety comes first, the number of places is limited: full is full. Participation is free of charge.

Practical information:

• Clothing: Don’t forget to bring warm clothes and a towel for after the dive. Good preparation makes all the difference!
• Parking: In Vlissingen there are several parking options close to the beach. Arrive early to find a good parking space.
• Safety: Safety comes first. Always follow the instructions of the organisers and local emergency services.
