Casemates - Monument

A unique military structure from 1811, located in the heart of the Keizersbolwerk, a part of the Vlissingen fortifications from 1548.

• Military Structure: The Casemates served as defense works and were also used for storing ammunition and other supplies. The original garrison bakery, where 4,800 loaves of bread were baked daily, is still intact.

• Accessibility: The Casemates are located beneath the statue of Michiel de Ruyter. Admission tickets are available at the nearby muZEEum.
